eTopps introducted RRO (Restricted Rookie Offering) cards during the baseball season. These cards are made available at any given time for a period of anywhere from 10 minutes to 10 hours. Once that time is up the only way to get your hands on one of them is on the secondary market.
The first football cards introducted by eTopps was an A.J. Hawk card. It was only available on September 14th from 5:35 PM to 5:45 PM. After this time elapsed the card was trading for $200 on the eTopps site. There were a total of 183 cards issued. Buyers are limited to 5 RRO’s and eTopps will never issue this rookie again as an individual eTopps card.
The highest completed auction ended at $201.54 on September 15th. As of September 20th, the card was trading at around $155.

Monday, September 18th, 2006Topps has announced that 2006 Topps Turkey Red will pickup where last year’s set left off. The 2006 version of Topps Turkey red will be numbered 316-630.

A PSA Gem Mint 10 1979 O-Pee-Chee rookie card of Wayne Gretzky recently traded hands for $80,000.
Rick Snyder, founder and President of MINT State, brokered the sale between two of the company’s clients.
“Our consignor purchased the only PSA-graded Gem Mint 10 of Gretzky’s OPC rookie card in August 2005,” explained Snyder. “He made a recent decision to refocus his collection and asked MINT State to find a buyer. In less than 30 minutes, the card had sold to a private collector for $80,000, the highest price ever paid for a single hockey card.”Snyder continued, “Extremely high grade football, basketball, and hockey cards continue to escalate in value at higher rates than their baseball counterparts. The buyer viewed this as a rare opportunity to acquire the finest known rookie card of a major sport’s universally recognized all-time greatest player.”
It is the only PSA 10 Gretzky O-Pee-Chee ever graded by PSA. According to the Beckett Grading Services population report, there have been 2 cards graded a Gem Mint 9.5 and none graded 10 Pristine.

Everyone knows about the star football rookies this year: Reggie Bush, Vince Young, Matt Leinart, DeAngelo Williams and others, but there are some other rookies that have already had a positive impact on their team and may soon see an increased demand for their rookie cards.
Jerious Norwood - Drafted in the 3rd round by the Atlanta Falcons, he already is the backup to Warrick Dunn and will see extensive action this year. In the preseason he led the Falcons and rushed for 215 yards on 30 carries.
Bruce Gradkowski - A 6th round pick of the Tampa Buccaneers, Gradkowski had an impressive preseason. He completed 74% of his passes for 511 yards. If Chris Simms continues to struggle like he did in the first game, Gradkowski may see action earlier than expected.
Marques Colston - With the trade of Donte Stallworth to the Eagles, this seventh round pick out of Holstra became a starter opposite Joe Horn for the New Orleans Saints.
Wali Lundy - Lundy was selected by the Houston Texans in the 6th round of the draft. The injury to Domanick Davis thrust him into the spotlight and he was named the starter before game 1.
