2007 Playoff Prestige Football Shortprints

Auto Date Friday, May 18th, 2007

Every year Donruss includes 10 rookie shortprints in Playoff Prestige football.  They officially don’t release the list until a few weeks after the debut of the product.  The shortprints are usually determined pretty early on by collectors/dealers who open large quantities of the boxes and the availability on eBay.  Based on boxes I opened, message board chatter and eBay availability, I believe these are the shortprints for this year:

  1. #158 Kenny Irons
  2. #161 Darius Walker
  3. #169 Anthony Gonzalez
  4. #176 Jason Hill
  5. #189 Patrick Willis
  6. #211 Paul Williams
  7. #239 Jared Zabransky
  8. #240 Chris Leak
  9. #241 Jordan Palmer
  10. #242 Garrett Wolfe

*Disclaimer – This is an unofficial list based on some research.

Almost All 2007 Press Pass Football Players Drafted

Auto Date Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

2007 Press Pass Football was released a few days before this years NFL Draft.  The selection of which players to include in the set has to be made months in advance because of the time required to design, print and distribute the cards.

In past years, many players in the Press Pass and Sage Hit sets have gone undrafted and some were not even picked up as Undrafted Free Agents.

This is not the case with this year’s set.  Of all the players included in the set, only 3 went undrafted and these were popular players from high-profile programs.  The three were Chris Leak (Florida), Darius Walker (Notre Dame) and Rhema McKnight (Notre Dame).  All three players have already signed free agent contracts.  Leak and Walker signed with the Chicago Bears and McKnight signed with the New Orleans Saints.

    Donruss Rumor?

Auto Date Sunday, December 31st, 2006

There was a rumor floating around that the NFL Players Association or NFL was not going to renew Donruss’ license to product football trading cards in 2007 and beyond.  Now various posting around the ‘net post to Donruss being renewed for 2007 and possibly through 2009.

It would have been a major shame if Donruss was forced out of the football card business.  Their products seem to provide the best value to pack busters.  Their Playoff Contenders set is anually one of the most popular.
