Upper Deck Series 2 Delivers First Dice-K Jersey Card

Upper Deck Series 2 Baseball, which is releasing today (June 20th), will contain the first game-used jersey cards of Daisuke Matsuzaka.

Besides the Dice-K jersey cards, Series 2 will contain other highlights such as 1989 rookie reprints, Star Signings and Rookie of the Year Predictor cards.

First Kevin Durant Autograph in Baseball Packs?

Upper Deck has announced that the first card and certified autograph of future First or Second NBA pick Kevin Durant will appear in Upper Deck Goudey Baseball which will be released in August.

Durant signed an exclusive deal with Upper Deck earlier this year for autographs and memorabilia.

Upper Deck Launches "Rookie Card of the Month" Redemption

FredLewisRedemption According to Beckett, Upper Deck is teaming up with Major League Baseball to launch a new wrapper redemption program called “Rookie Card of the Month”.

Collectors will be able to redeem Upper Deck and Fleer wrappers for one of six cards throughout the season.  The cards will be available at your local hobby shop.

The first card (May) is outfielder Fred Lewis of the San Francisco Giants.  Lewis hit for the cycle in his major league debut.

Upper Deck Sues Topps

Topps announed on Wednesday that Upper Deck and Northwood Investors are suing it and other involved in the purchase of Topps by Tornante Co, LLC and Madison Dearborn partners.

Topps had agreed to be acquired for $9.75 per share in March and in May Upper Deck made an unsolicited offer of $10.75 per share.

Upper Deck alledges that Topps breached a confidentiality agreement that they had signed and fraudulently induced Upper Deck into entering into an agreement.

Second Upper Deck SPx Rookie Redemption Revealed

It is believed that New York Yankees pitcher Philip Hughes will be card #107 from 2007 SPx Baseball. 

Upper Deck will reveal a new player every week until all redemptions have been revealed.

Upper Deck Unveils Certified Dealer Program

Upper Deck has announced their new Certified Diamond Dealer program for brick -and-mortar hobby shops.

The program is designed to give dealer more detailed information about upcoming sports card releases three to four months before the product is available in a hobby shop.

Each store will receive a monthly  marketing and sales support kit that will include everything from product brochures to updated release information to exclusive wrapper redemption sets to branded posters and other signage.

Recently Upper Deck instituted new purchasing guidelines for its products which ensures that only brick-and-mortar hobby shops are able to purchase new Upper Deck and Fleer products directly from Upper Deck and authorized distributors.

Upper Deck Series II to Contain Dice-K Jersey Cards

Upper Deck has announced that they have acquired a Daisuke Matsuzaka game-worn Boston Red sox jersey and will issue the first Red Sox game-worn jersey cards in Upper Deck Series II Baseball which will be out in June.

The only Dice-K jersey cards to this point have been from a World Baseball Classic Jersey.

He will also have additional Red Sox jersey cards in Upper Deck Element and Ultra Baseball SE.

NFL Rookie Premiere Takes Place

The annual event where the top rookies from the NFL draft participate in photo shoots and sign autographs for trading card companies Donruss Playoff, Topps and Upper Deck took place over the weekend in Los Angeles.

This is the 12th year that the top rookies are brought together for autographs, photos, a Madden Tournament, hobby shop appearance and more.

The 35 rookies and alternates that where scheduled to attend were:
